Supercharged Mango Lassi

A boy wearing a green shirt holds a glass of Mango Lassi with both hands, drinking from a white and pink striped straw.

This scrumptious mango lassi recipe brings you a nutritious twist on the traditional Indian version. It was voted the winner during my smoothie workshop at Chris Evans’s CarFest this summer, and it was terrific seeing so many enthusiastic faces slurping it up.

You can serve this yummy drink at breakfast, as a mid-morning snack, or it can be refreshing to drink after a workout. Give it to your teens and kids after school or during the evening if they need an extra boost of vitamin C, fibre, calcium, protein and healthy fats.

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Peel, destone and chop both the mango and avocado.
  • Put the pieces of mango and avocado into a blender, then juice in the oranges and lime.
  • Add the yoghurt and flax seeds, then whizz until smooth which takes around 90 seconds. Blitz for longer if you prefer it to be super smooth and creamier.
  • Serve straight away!

Notes

Frozen mango will work just as well as fresh. About 125g of frozen mango is roughly equivalent to half a mango, which is perfect if fresh mango isn’t in season.
Dairy-free/Vegan: Swap Greek yoghurt for a plant-based alternative such as coconut, almond or soya yoghurt.
Serve chilled: For a refreshing treat, chill your ingredients before blending or add a few ice cubes. Leftovers can be poured into ice lolly moulds and frozen to make ice lollies.

Per serving. Nutrition content in food is never consistent, so take these estimates with a pinch of salt! Also, our recipes tend to use low-GI carbs and sugars, so these values are not directly comparable with shop-bought UPFs.
