Festive Dried Apples
Dried apple rings are a simple delight, especially with a light coating of cinnamon and maple syrup. Eat these delicious oven-dried apples all year round as well as during the festive season to use up a glut of apples. Your kitchen will smell amazing whilst these are drying in your oven.
The fibre in the apples as well as the cinnamon help to balance blood sugar. These apple rings make a great crunchy snack for highly selective eaters and people with multiple allergens as they are naturally gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free and nut-free.

Festive Dried Apples
Ingredients
- 3 Apples
- 1 tbsp Maple syrup
- 1 tsp Ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Line two baking sheets with baking paper or silicon liners. Pre-heat the oven to 100°C (conventional). Do not use the fan oven option.
- Wash the apples, then carefully slice them horizontally into 3mm thin slices. Use little cookie cutters to cut out the core of each slice. For festive apple rings use a Christmas tree or star cookie cutter. Lay the slices onto the prepared baking sheets.
- Mix together the maple syrup and ground cinnamon, then use a pastry brush to coat the apple slices.
- Put the apples into the pre-heated oven and leave to dry and crisp up for 3 hours, turning now and again to ensure even cooking. Once the apples are dried, turn off the oven and leave the apples in the oven for a further hour.
Notes
- Different apples will cook at different times, if there is a high moisture content the apple chips may take longer to crisp up.
- Store for up to 1 week in an airtight container.
