Banana and Chocolate Chip Protein Bites
Banana and chocolate chips make such a wonderful taste combo. These little bites of goodness are perfect for after-school snacks, and are simple, speedy and secretly packed with protein.
What it the secret ingredient? Beans! Don’t panic, the white beans disappear completely into the mashed banana and honestly, no one will ever know that they are there. The beans add fibre, minerals and slow-release energy from protein without any hint of their beany flavour at all.
These bites are lovely and soft, naturally sweet and perfect for a snack or treat. They are also naturally egg-free and can also be made dairy-free by using dairy-free chocolate.

Banana and Chocolate Chip Protein Bites
Ingredients
- 1 Bananas
- 50 g White Beans (drained from a tin – cannellini or haricot)
- 60 g Oats
- 60 g Chocolate (dark or milk chocolate chips, drops or buttons)
- 2 tsp Maple Syrup
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (160°C fan). Line a baking sheet with baking paper or a silicone liner.
- Mash the banana and white beans together in a bowl. Don’t worry if it’s not completely smooth; a few tiny bits hide well in the rest of the mixture.
- Tip in the oats, chocolate chips and maple syrup and give everything a good stir until the mixture is well combined.
- Dollop tablespoons of the mixture onto the prepared tray and flatten gently with the back of the spoon.
- Bake for 15 minutes, until they are just firming up (some ovens need an extra 5 minutes).
- Remove the banana bites from the oven and transfer them to a wire rack to cool.
