Halloween Boonanas
Make Halloween extra fun and easy this year (as well a little bit healthier) by making these spooky boonana ice lollies! Simply freeze whole bananas, pop in a wooden ice lolly stick and then decorate with chocolate buttons and melted chocolate to make them scary and ghost like!
Easy to make plant-based and dairy free. Suitable from 18 months. The plain frozen bananas are great for teething babies from 6 months.

Halloween Boonanas
Ingredients
- 5 Bananas (small)
- 5 Wooden ice lolly sticks
- 10 Chocolate Chips (mini – dark or milk chocolate chips, drops or buttons)
- Edible glue (or rice syrup)
- 1 tsp Coconut Oil (odourless neutral tasting)
Instructions
- Peel the bananas and cut one end with a small knife in a zig zag pattern. Push a wooden ice lolly stick in by about two thirds Freeze the bananas on a tray for at least 3 hours
- Just before taking the bananas out of the freezer, melt the chocolate and coconut oil in a bain-marie or pyrex bowl in a saucepan of hot water. Place the chocolate sauce in a small icing bag with a thin nozzle.
- Take the bananas out of the freezer and stick two chocolate buttons to make the spooky eyes using edible glue or rice syrup.
- Then zig zag over the melted chocolate – this will set almost immediately.
- Either devour straight way or store in a plastic bag in the freezer until Halloween!
