    Ingredient: Smoked Mackerel

    Mackerel is cheaper than most fish, utterly mouth-watering and a nutritional powerhouse, full of omega-3 fatty acids – which most of us don’t eat enough of!

    When a mackerel is smoked, its rich flavour and wonderful golden colour is enriched, making it even more tasty and versatile. When selecting smoked mackerel, it’s best to choose naturally smoked options when possible, to ensure the best flavour and quality. You can even have a go at smoking your own at home!

    Smoked mackerel is a great addition to any meal as it is packed with essential nutrients. It provides a good amount of vitamin D as well as B2, B3, B6 and B12, and it is rich in high-quality protein, which is essential for muscle repair and growth. Mackerel is a fantastic source of those all-important omega-3 fatty acids, which are beneficial for heart health, brain function, and reducing inflammation in the body. Mackerel also contains selenium, which acts as an antioxidant, and niacin, which is crucial for the proper functioning of the digestive system and skin health.

    All of that and it tastes delicious, with a rich, smoky flavour and melt in the mouth texture. Smoked mackerel makes a fantastic addition to baked spuds, salads and sandwiches, or is simply wonderful enjoyed on its own.
