Recently I had a wonderful day speaking at the fabulous ‘Weaning 101’ event in Covent Garden, which was organised by Mothercare in partnership with Tommee Tippee and Little Dish, and was set up by Natasha Corrett. It was aimed at new parents who were just about to start on their weaning journey with their little ones.
The morning started with a baby weaning Q&A panel hosted by Heart FM presenter, Zoe Hardman and included myself, Natasha Corrett, Lizzie King and Ciara Atwell who are all family cookbook authors and mums. We covered subjects from when to wean, allergies, building a strong immunity, fussy eating and much more. We then went on to do some yummy healthy weaning recipe demonstrations starting with Natasha’s Green Patties, then Ciara’s Broccoli & Carrot Frittata Bars, my Carrot Cake Porridge and ending with Lizzie’s Lime & Coriander Hummus. The babies and their mums all tucked into the delicious food at the end.

Weaning is one of the messiest parts of parenthood, but an equally fun and fulfilling time spent engaging with your baby. It is one of your first opportunities to introduce your little one to the exciting flavours, smells and textures that our wonderful planet offers. But, we also appreciate it can also be quite a daunting road so don’t be afraid to ask for help and support along the way as it is a time of great opportunity to spark a life-long love of healthy food and all the benefits that this provides.
