Children love vibrant, colourful fruits and pomegranate is without exception. These shiny jewels of goodness are a great addition to your child’s breakfast and you will all soon be hooked. When you combine this with a delicious and crunchy, Paleo granola, mango, passion fruit and coconut yoghurt then you will have your child begging you to give them this for breakfast.
These paleo pomegranate breakfast pots are very filling and should keep energy and focus sharp until lunch time. Also a good idea for an after school snack if your child is starving when he gets home.
Pomegranate is a particularly healthy fruit to encourage your children to enjoy and is known as the “memory fruit”. Several studies into Alzheimer’s disease have found that pomegranate helps with memory complaints and even though there is no specific research on the effect on children’s working memory it may well be worth adding this into your child’s diet on a regular basis if they are struggling with memory issues.
Other research has found that Pomegranate contains punicalagin which may inhibit inflammation in specialised brain cells known as micrologia. Also in an article written for the journal, Pediatric Research by D. J. Loren says that pomegranate juice can protect the brains of babies if they are deprived of oxygen before birth. I see a great deal of children with difficulties related to brain-inflammation and oxygen deprivation and pomegranate is one of the key foods I usually suggest.

- 1 tablespoon Coconut Yoghurt We like Coconut Collaborative
- 1 tablespoon Pomegranate Use the bright pink jewel-like seeds
- Layer each ingredient on top of each other and serve.
Handy tip: prepare the pomegranate, mango and passion fruit on a Sunday night and store in glass jars in the fridge, so you have plenty of fruit ready to make breakfast in seconds.
