Most children thrive on eating plenty of eggs and yes they can eat them every day! In fact many children with learning problems often have scary LOW cholesterol and we should all aim for an OPTIMAL cholesterol range of 4.17-5.0 to maintain proper brain function and a good mood.

Your child’s brain requires a stable supply of glucose to give it energy to help provide sustained focus and concentration as well as a stable mood. Sharp daily swings in blood sugars can have a detrimental effect on working memory, processing and speed.

The protein inside eggs is the highest quality protein of any food and contains 22 amino acids. This protein can make your children feel fuller for longer helping them to maintain more stable blood-glucose levels. The high-quality protein in eggs helps to build key neurotransmitters including dopamine and nor-epinephrine.

Egg yolks are a super important brain food, as they provide important the key nutrients to nourish the brain. The main brain food egg yolks provide are choline, a nutrient which supports many brain functions. Choline is relatively rare in other foods.

Egg yolks are a rich source of the essential vitamins and minerals needed for a child’s brain to operate at its best. Egg yolks are a particularly good source of vitamin B12 which helps nerve cells to talk to each other. Egg yolks are also rich in vitamin B5 which is necessary to maintain nervous system health and vitamin B6, which is involved in the production of various neurotransmitters; they also contain biotin which may prevent movement and vision problems. Yolks also provide the essential brain mineral, zinc and enough zinc helps you think!

It would be great to know how your children like to eat their eggs, so please feel free to comment below.  Also remember please try and buy the best quality eggs you can, organic if possible!
